Who We Are
BioTROPE is a clinically grounded, innovation-driven framework with the mission to build emotional literacy.
We start from a simple but often overlooked premise: emotions are not problems to eliminate or avoid. Our emotional system scans our internal and external environment in 7 modes/emotions: fear, anger, sadness, joy, disgust, contempt and surprise.
Emotions are generated automatically, in a non-conscious way and provide crucial information that is felt in our body.
We often identify them as "positive" and "negative" emotions, because of the associated physical sensations that can be uncomfortable or even painful. We confound unpleasantness with negativity. Yet even the most unpleasant emotion is fundamentally positive and good, conveying a specific message. The unpleasantness is there to rapidly catch our attention and provide help so we rapidly understand what is happening to us.
Developed by Dr Stamatios Vassiliades in Switzerland through his extensive experience in clinical psychiatric and psychotherapeutic outpatient practice. Integrating scientific, medical & philosophical knowledge, BioTROPE is an analytical and non-moral approach to emotions: integrate emotions as resources and learn to train the emotional system.
At our core, we are committed to translating how emotions function into tools, methods, and languages that can be understood and used across contexts: clinical, organizational, educational, and personal.
Acquiring emotional literacy deepens your understanding of how you function and strengthens communication by fostering insight into yourself and others, ultimately enhancing performance across personal, professional, relational, academic, and athletic domains.
